My initial interest in breath came about through Freediving (breath hold diving).
I was fortunate enough early in my career around the Year 2000 to encounter some elite level free divers who had undertaken extensive study in breath in various cultures. It sparked my own interest and as I continued on the Freediving journey to greater depths my desire to become aware of my own breath, to study, connect with it and to master and understand it also grew. In fact, I became more interested in breath than depth! Zen Kokyu appeals to me because of the three underlying premises of : Posture, Breath, Mind. As we correct our posture and our breath we enable our mind to change also. I have worked for over 3 decades as a Chiropractor and I love to see the effects of improving breathing on people's musculoskeletal structure but also on their health and well-being.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to be a Zen Kokyu breath Advisor.
I have had a fascination for Japan and Japanese culture since the mid-1970s when a teacher showed us photographs at school. While it took over 40 years to finally travel there myself, the flame of interest hasn't dwindled!
I enjoy helping people not only with the physical aspects of their health but also with stress management, anxiety and building self-confidence. I love to help people grow and overcome self-limiting beliefs. May your breath enable you to flourish and thrive in every aspect of your life!
